The project of Corporate University of Russian Railways and the Central Infrastructure Business Unit of Russian Railways "Forum of Generations" became a finalist of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) international competition Excellence in Practice in the category "Talent Development".
The Excellence in Practice is awarded annually to companies, business schools, and corporate universities for the cases in the field of human resource development. This year, more than 40 projects were submitted for the competition.
They were evaluated by a jury consisting of representatives of large companies (including Siemens AG, Daimler Industries, ArcelorMittal, Lafarge, DuPont) and business schools from 17 countries.
The results of the competition were announced on May 14. Sixteen finalist projects were selected in five categories: "Organisational Development", "Talent Development", "Executive Development", "Professional Development", "Ecosystem Development". These included cases from Dublin International Airport, the companies Unilever and Deloitte, the University of Manchester Business School, the European Institute of Business Management (INSEAD), the Ministry
of Economic Development of the Russian Federation and the Moscow School of Management "Skolkovo", the Agency
for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) and ANO "University 20.35", as well as the Corporate University of Russian Railways
and the Central Infrastructure Business Unit of Russian Railways. The Russian Railways team presented the educational project "Forum of Generations" for the competition. "The key value of the project is an integrated approach
to the formation of the company's talent pool among students and graduates of industry universities, - Roman Baskin, Director of the Corporate University of Russian Railways told to "Gudok" newspaper. – For five years none of the Russian corporate universities has become a finalist of Excellence in Practice."
Last year "Forum of Generations" was implemented on the entire network of Russian railways. 1,700 target students
of the Central Infrastructure Business Unit, who study at transport universities, and 600 mentors from the employees
of the Business Unit took part in masterclasses on the development of emotional intelligence and leadership qualities,
a seminar "The theory of generations as a coordinate system for mentors", prepared by the faculty of the Corporate University of Russian Railways. Also, the forum participants talked with the management of the Central Infrastructure Business Unit during the panel discussion "Secrets of building a successful career" and visited a special job fair organized by Russian Railways.
"On the one hand, the project became a territory of dialogue between mentors and their future colleagues, on the other hand, it showed students and university graduates possibilities of successful career building, as well as the system
of support for young employees created in the company. "Forum of Generations" is an example of a successful combination of educational and HR technologies, which allows the company to solve production tasks more efficiently, " said Roman Baskin. According to him, today, when the university is building its work in new conditions, it is especially important to win an international competition. "This award highlights the value of the teamwork of the HR Department,
the Central Infrastructure Business Unit, railway universities and our university in the development of the Russian Railways human capital," said Roman Baskin. – We will continue to develop cooperation with the European Foundation for Management Development and other international organizations to continuously improve the quality of corporate education at Russian Railways in accordance with international requirements and high-quality standards."
